Wildlife Walks

(Photo: Chris Bateman)

Clear directions and up-to-date information regarding any change of venue, weather-related difficulties and (most important!) lunch arrangements will be posted on this website shortly before each walk. Checking just before you set off is highly recommended! Please click here to view.

Anyone interested in learning or in sharing their own knowledge, or just wanting to enjoy our lovely countryside, is welcome to join our friendly and informal group. All walks are leisurely but are sometimes over uneven and hilly terrain so please wear walking boots or stout shoes and suitable clothing. Bring binoculars if you have them and refreshments if required. We regret that dogs are not allowed as they can cause disturbance to wildlife. Thank you for your cooperation.

(To read reports of selected walks, or to find directions to their starting points, please use the links next to each walk below where available, or use the navigation panel.)

Walks run throughout the year with the exception of August and sometimes January. They take place on the third Saturday in the month* and begin from the meeting point indicated at 10.00 a.m. We like to find a pub or café for a snack lunch or may have a picnic if the weather is kind. Most walks end at lunchtime but sometimes there's an opportunity to carry on into the afternoon.

*Check our list below for extra walks taking place on other days, e.g. Sunday. Also we do occasionally arrange outings further afield at relatively short notice so please check the field trips page or come to meetings!

Please visit this website for information (e.g. unavoidable last-minute changes) and clear directions to meeting points shortly before each event, or phone individual leaders. For general queries please contact Trevor on 01746 785348 or 07940 959303.
